What is it?
Fiberoptic Endoscopic Evaluation of Swallowing (FEES) is a diagnostic test used by speech-language pathologists and medical professionals to evaluate and diagnose swallowing disorders in patients. During a FEES procedure, a small flexible scope with a camera and light is inserted through the nose and into the throat, allowing the clinician to see the patient's swallowing mechanism in action. This test provides real-time visualization of the swallowing process and can help identify any abnormalities, such as aspiration or difficulty swallowing certain types of food or liquids. FEES is a minimally invasive procedure that is safe and effective for both children and adults. If you are experiencing any difficulties with swallowing or are in need of a swallowing disorder evaluation, contact us today to schedule a FEES procedure with one of our experienced speech-language pathologists. We are committed to helping our patients achieve optimal swallowing function and overall oral health.
